“There is a saying in Tibetan, 'Tragedy should be utilized as a source of strength.' No matter what sort of difficulties, how painful experience is, if we lose our hope, that's our real disaster.” ― Dalai Lama XIV The devastating earthquakes in Nepal are a terrible tragedy over 8,000 dead and 18,000 seriously injured. It has left 3.5 million people in desperate need of food, water and assistance including medical help, 1.7 million of those are children. As always though during difficult times there are those that rally to the aid of others and never lose hope. Individuals like Valsnia and Ruby Ornamental, SL Bloggers, who have formed the Join Hands virtual group, dedicated to making a difference in the world through the spirit of humanity. They have organized a four-day fundraiser, Fashion For Food (FFF) to raise money which can be put towards the UN's World Food Program (WFP). WFP is providing relief estimated at approximately $116.5 million to victims of this natural disaster. I was thrilled to see the response from the fashion world of SL with so many coming forward to volunteer their time and resources. Designers participating in this very worthwhile event include: Amarelo Manga, Ana Markova, Astralia, Auralia, Azul, Baboom Couture, COCO, Corpus Motion, Dulce Secrets, Fascino Couture, Ghee, Glitter Fashion, Glitterati by Sapphire, J'adore, Jumo Fashion, Kelini Haute Couture, Lazuri, LUXE Paris Fashion House, Lyrical Bizarre, M&M Style, Nya's Shop, Prism, SlackGirl, Snowpaws, Vestige Poses, Xen's Hats and Zanze. The event opened May 13th and will run through May 16th. Do make the time to visit this event, you won't be disappointed in the wide range of fabulous offerings and you will be helping to make a difference! LUXE Paris Fashion house LUXE Paris Fashion House offers this adorable romper perfect for summer. The bright colors and playful print make me feel like a little girl again. Growing up by the shore this was the typical summer uniform and this one would have been a favorite that I reached for in my closet again and again. The bright orange buttons and front waist bow add the perfect accent. I've worn it with comfy sandals by Poute for my Slink Flat Feet. The Camilla Sandal comes with a Six Color Change HUD for the base and eight color options for the straps affording plenty of versatility. I needed some very low maintenance hair and the Maiko style in wild honey by Wasabi Pills is the perfect choice with two loose buns secured on top of my head, my guy calls them "Puff Balls" lol. The jewelry I chose is reminiscent of the vintage Bakelite pieces of costume jewelry I just adore! Solid color teardrop earrings and a mixture of thick and thin bangles in orange and yellow from Maxi Gossamer. Last but not least what's a day of fun in the sun without something sweet? This lollipop from Axix was just the thing I was craving. I'm all ready for my next adventure! It has more than a nod toward the eighties so if you love a bit of retro flair you will love this one. Again this set has me feeling playful so I chose the very colorful Harajuko Jewelry Set by Violet Voltaire. I love the bright colors! I decided to wear my hair in pigtails today so I chose this Ivy style by Soul, I like that the hair is pulled more toward the back and the very long length is a nice change for me since I've been wearing mostly short to shoulder length hair lately. The Uma Shoes are one of my favorites and using the Color Change HUD the variety of options you have is endless. I've made them as colorful as possible to go with my outfit. I had the pleasure of modeling this look at the Join Hands for Nepal Fashion Show that SCALA presented on May 13th which was a great success! Styling Credits
